Women's Thrump of the Week Alright, a quick explanation of Thump. A Thrump is my word for throw and jump. This award goes to the best field event performance of the week on the women's side. This week's award goes to Casey Millstein, and here's why. WEEK 1: 3/28/02 BALDWIN INVITATIONAL Casey is really coming on in all of her sports her senior year. She shined more so this year in basketball than she ever has, and she's started off the same in track. She threw the discus, triple jumped, as well as high jumped, thus, giving herself three chances at the Thrump of the Week. However, it was her performance in the high jump that won it for her. She upset fellow teammate Emily Brown for the Baldwin victory in high jump. Her jump of 5' outdid her teammate by one height (two inches). She was first out of the Baldwin girls, but 3rd in the meet. If you asked her, though, she wouldn't be disappointed. Her goals may have revolved around triple jump and discus at the beginning of the season, but she can't overlook high jump as well now. Good job Millstud. WEEK 2: 4/09/02 & 4/12/02 BAKER RELAYS & KT WOODMAN Kyleigh Garman had a breakthrough day. She didn't have the chance to jump in the finals at KT Woodman because of a scheduling mishap, but she did get to jump a personal best in the prelims. That personal best was good enough for a medal at one of the largest meets of the year. She toted home a precious prize that not many freshmen have the chance to obtain. Great job Kyleigh. WEEK3: 4/19/02 & 4/20/02 CARDINAL RELAYS & KU RELAYS This week's award is still too close to call. Thank you for your patience. WEEK 4: 4/22/02 & 4/26/02 SPRING HILL INVITE & GIRARD INVITE This week's award is also under scrutiny. Results of the outcome will be posted immediately after there is an outcome. |
